(1) Ordinary power graphite electrodes allow the use of graphite electrodes with current densities below 17A/cm2, mainly used in ordinary power electric furnaces for steelmaking, silicon refining, yellow phosphorus refining, etc.
(2) Anti oxidation coated graphite electrode
A graphite electrode coated with an antioxidant protective layer (graphite electrode antioxidant) on the surface. Forming a protective layer that is both conductive and resistant to high temperature oxidation, reducing electrode consumption during steelmaking (19%~50%), extending electrode lifespan (22%~60%), and reducing electrode energy consumption. The promotion and use of this technology can bring about such economic and social effects:
① Graphite electrodes consume less per unit, resulting in a certain reduction in production costs. For example, in a certain steel plant, based on the consumption of approximately 35 graphite electrodes per week for the first level LF refining furnace and 165 refining furnaces without any shutdown throughout the year, the use of graphite electrode oxidation technology can save 373 graphite electrodes (153 tons) per year. Calculated at RMB 16900 per ton of ultra-high power electrodes per year, it can save RMB 2.5857 million.
② Graphite electrodes consume less energy, save unit steelmaking electricity consumption, reduce production costs, and save energy!
③ Due to the fewer replacement times of graphite electrodes, the workload and risk factor of operators are reduced, which improves production efficiency.
④ Graphite electrodes are high consumption and high pollution products, which have significant social significance in the promotion of energy conservation, emission reduction, and environmental protection.
This technology is still in the research and development stage in China, and some domestic manufacturers have also started production. It has been widely used in developed countries such as Japan. At present, there are also companies in China that specialize in importing this antioxidant protective coating.
(3) High power graphite electrode. It is allowed to use graphite electrodes with a current density of 18-25A/cm2, mainly used in high-power electric arc furnaces for steelmaking.
(4) Ultra high power graphite electrode. Allow the use of graphite electrodes with a current density greater than 25A/cm2. Mainly used for ultra-high power steelmaking electric arc furnaces.
